Episode No. 3 of the For The Record podcast features country music singer Crystal Sands. Originally from Maryland, she moved to both Texas and Nashville after high school in an attempt to chase her dream of becoming a country music star.
And, at least on some level, it worked. In 2009, Sands was named Female Vocalist of the Year at the Texas Music Awards and during her stay in the Lone Star State, she also landed multiple appearances on the Texas County Line television show. In addition to that, she recorded her second record, 2009’s “The Hard times,” at the famed Rosewood Studios, a recording spot LeAnn Rimes initially made famous when she recorded her hit “I Need You” there in 2000.
Currently back in Baltimore, Sands was eager to talk about the differences between the music culture in the Charm City when compared with Nashville, as well as what it is that inspires her to sit down and write (every track on her latest record, for instance, was written by only her). In addition to all that, the singer was also kind enough to offer up three — three! — live performances. So, well, kudos to her for setting a new For The Record podcast gold standard!
