Oh, there’s just so much this weekend. Kicking off October in style is Classic Electric Tattoo’s 10-year anniversary parties set to take over Cafe Nola on both Friday and Saturday. The fine young men in Old Indian will be there, and you should be there, too. Also at Cafe Nola tonight is a pretty great Guitar Man, Mr. Justin Kalk (above), who has a brand new CD he’ll surely be selling (we hear his live show is impressive, so check it out). Elsewhere, we have one of our favorite artists in the area coming to one of our favorite venues in the area as The Hello Strangers, on the heels of their outrageously awesome new record, come to Shepherdstown’s Opera House (and we shed a tear for not being able to make the trip ourselves). It also looks like the Blue Sky Bar is getting into the whole live, local music thing, and as you’ll see below, the people there are looking to bring in shows Thursday, Friday and Saturday. So, high-five for that. The Averist is bringing the metal to Cafe 611 along with their friends. And then, of course, there is a band called The Woo Yeahs. All of this is in addition to it being a First Saturday, so all you pretty much have to do is step outside and you’ll find some pretty great music. (EDIT: Also of note, we completely forgot about the fine event Flying Dog has going on throughout Saturday. Ghost Hotel will be there, so that means you need to be, too). We’ll back next week to wax poetic on our first four months and get ready for Phase 2 of Frederick Playlist (whatever that means). We love you. But do you promise to always love us back? Let’s hope so.
