Welcome to the first Weekend Playlist of the new year! Goodbye, 2014. Hello, 2015. In case you haven’t heard, we already announced the first-ever Frederick Playlist Frederick Music Showcase, set for February, this week. Tickets will go on sale soon, and, of course, there will be much more to share as the weeks progress. And speaking of those weeks … this weekend has a pretty radical lineup of stuff going down around town. There’s a great-to-a-greater chance that some of us will be stopping by Cafe Nola tomorrow night to see the indomitable Karen Jonas acoustic-rock-and-roll through some songs off her four-star set, “Oklahoma Lottery.” We were there a few months ago; why wouldn’t we be there again? That was a rhetorical question. Duh. Anyway, we also have a super-duper awesome-tastic show that is set to go down at The Met on Saturday night, featuring Ghost Hotel, Seaknuckle and Chainsaws. There’s some bluegrass going down at Beans In The Belfry tonight. Nicky C And The RSB (above) will be one in a trio of groups set to take the Cafe 611 stage on Friday. Our old friend Doug Alan Wilcox will be appearing at the Frederick Coffee Company Saturday night, so that should be fun. Freddie Long will be at The Cellar Door. Donegal X-Press will be at Bushwaller’s. And, of course, No Shame. It’s colder than a Coors Light can out there, but lest we be reminded that such should never stop the show from going on. We’ll be out and about through the next three days. Will you come say hi? We can only hope.
