We’ll be rolling out the rest of Cassandra’s reporting from this year’s South By Southwest through the beginning of this week. In case if you missed parts one, two, three or four … well, there they were. Check out this entry from Thursday, March 19.
Oddly, at some point, even SXSW starts to feel normal. Today is that day. It’s a typical “a little bit of this here and a little bit of that over there” adventuring around the city. It’s a beautiful day-drinking kind of day, which is exactly the kind of thing you start to get used to at this point while killing time between sets along with hailing cabs like a pro between showcases. My first showcase is a pool party near a college for some Burger Records artists, a perfect way to foster some good spirits for the rest of the day.
The real goal of the day, however, is to make it to the Infinity Cat Records showcase this evening to see locals Rozwell Kid along with other great label mates like Jeff The Brotherhood and Diarrhea Planet. We hit all our queues and arrive at the designated location just as Rozwell Kid is taking the stage. They totally nail it! Great energy, great sound, and a great response from the crowd. Yeah, dawgs! As normal as things feel today, the end of SXSW is near and the real world is moving in like rain clouds on a hot summer afternoon.
