Whew. That was a sneaky busy week here at Frederick Playlist. We premiered a video. We Q&A-ed the organizer of tomorrow’s 301 Anchor Fest in Baker Park. We unleashed a brand new podcast with former “Voice” contestants. We unleashed a brand new Frederick Playlist Presents … with former “Voice” contestants. And now, we embark on a week’s worth of open mics, beginning tonight at Beans In The Belfry, The Blue Sky and Bushwaller’s (come say hi if you see a dude with a camera and a notepad!). Oh, just as important: It’s someone’s birthday! Anyway, there’s a ton going on this weekend. Katie Powderly (above) is releasing her record and throwing a show-party at Cafe Nola. Take 6 will be rhythm-ing and blues-ing at the Weinberg this evening, and tickets are still on sale for that. Shane Gamble is coming back to town to perform at Champion Billiards. Freddie Long will be at the same place a day later. Our dear old friend Phil Kominski is scheduled to be at The Cellar Door. All The Good Dudes … in Jack Funk will be at Guido’s. There’s Guys In Thin Ties. There’s Band Of Rivals. There’s Litz. There’s a fun festival at the Red Shedman Farm brewery that you ought to take note of. There’s Shai Hulud, which is impressive. And, of course, there are The Rad Trads. Come for the Brahman Noodles. Stay for the Years End. You only turn 31 once. Let’s do it up.
