So. Have you heard of The Best Of The Best yet? It’s a brand new thing the newspaper that owns this site is doing. There are about 49,282 things you can vote on. Or, wait. Instead of me explaining what the deal is, how about you read for yourself …
“Locally owned and locally franchised businesses are eligible for the contest. There are over 150 categories to choose from when nominating, so have fun and nominate as many as you want. Remember, this is not a scientific study, but a readers’-choice award. Your vote determines the winner.
To nominate, you must register by submitting your email address. For registering, we’ll sign you up for our weekly On the Town and Contest newsletters to keep you abreast of contest information as well as other fun stuff to do in Frederick.
Just for submitting at least 60 nominations, you will be entered for a chance to win $500 in a random drawing. Don’t have time to nominate all 60 of your favorites right now? No problem! Just be sure to come back before the nomination round closes on June 16. No purchase is necessary. Limit one entry per e-mail address. All ballots are confidential and the exclusive property of The Frederick News-Post.”
Got all that? Good deal. It came from the website on which you can vote.
But why should you care? Glad you asked.
This being the inaugural Best Of The Best go-around, we at Frederick Playlist thought we’d sweeten the pot and here’s how: If you happen to be a band or artist that is voted The Best Of The Best, and you are a top five vote-getter, well, we’re going to ask you to play at the event we plan on having commemorating the different winners of the Best competition.
And what will playing that event get you? Well, not only will it get you mega coverage on this very website (because we know there must be – what? – three or four people who click on it a month), but it also gets you a spot in a battle of the bands competition, a competition that is set to go down on the very night this event occurs. And what happens if you win the battle of the bands?
You get to open our second-annual Frederick Music Showcase (a song from this year’s you can see above) at the Weinberg Center in February 2016. Well, that and money, of course. But you get it.
The date of the battle? Saturday, Aug. 8.
So. Head over to the Best Of The Best website. Vote for all the bands you want to see perform at the battle of the bands. Then stay tuned for more details on the when, where, how much, and everything else in between. For now, though …
