All right, so let’s do this first: Even though this weekend’s show at 200 E. Patrick Street is a 21-and-over show, we have plenty of events scheduled from now until October that will be all ages. We love everybody. We want everybody to have a moment to shine. That’s the point. So, how about we go ahead and settle down with all this foolishness regarding how stupid beer pong is (trust us; we know it’s stupid. We were just looking to make the night a little more fun), and how it’s unfair that this is a 21-and-over show. We hear everything. We don’t always respond to it, because all of it – and I (not we; I) mean all of it – is nonsense. But in this case, anyone squabbling about Saturday’s event is utterly missing every intention of this tiny project. We can either support each other, or we can’t. That’s up to you. And with that said, if there are some high school-aged bands (or, for that matter, bands with people under the age of 21) out there, we’d love to put you on that stage for a night. So, reach out. We’re not hard to find. We know for a fact that there’s a lot of you out there because we’ve featured a lot of you on this website. So, you want a place to put on a show? Let’s talk. That’s what it’s for. But idiocy? Pettiness? Negativity? No time for it. Anyway. Speaking of Saturday night … well, yeah. It’s here. And there’s something we need to clarify. If you plan to participate in the beer pong tournament, you will indeed be rewarded with a free beer. But because there seems to be some confusion, we should note that if you want that free beer, you have to show up before the cutoff time for signups. Remember: Signups begin at 5 p.m. Play begins at 6 p.m. If you want your free beer, we need you to come between five and six. We just want to make sure we’re all clear on that. So … are we good? Let’s hope so. We apologize dearly for any confusion. Now. Elsewhere, there’s a ton of stuff going on. And in essence, you could drop by our tiny event at 200 E. Patrick St. Saturday night, check out some music, and still have time to get to all the other great things going on around town. Cafe Nola has New God Friday night, and we love us some New God (who we play often on The Local Playlist on WSHC every Friday from 1 to 3 p.m.!). And Saturday, wouldn’t it be great to rock to some Seaknuckle and then walk down the street to some Dapp? Or some Dan Wolff? Or some Helsott? Or, if you want to venture out of downtown, maybe some Guys With Thin Ties? The list goes on and on and on and on. For now, though, you know where we’ll be Saturday night. It’d be great if you could join us and make this grand opening worthwhile. Seaknuckle will release a CD. Silent Old Mtns. will reunite. Rozwell Kid will be radical. It’s going to be a lot of fun. Five or 500 people, the show will always go on. There are some goodies in store for everyone, and if you’d be kind enough to stop by, you’ll see what we mean. United we stand. Divided we fall.
