Welp. As we mentioned last week, we have partnered up with the Downtown Frederick Partnership for the second year in a row (the above video comes from last year) to help provide you – yes, you! – with some free local original music along Carroll Creek this summer. And for the second year in a row, that free local original music will be performed in conjunction with the organization’s Movie Night On The Creek series that is expanding this year!

We kicked things off on Friday with a couple of the dudes from Jack Funk performing before “Jurassic Park” took the screen. It was sunny. It was fun. A few strings were broken. A good time was had by all.
Now, as for the rest of the summer’s slate. Check it out:
- Friday: “Anchorman: The Legend Of Ron Burgundy,” Todd C. Walker
- Saturday: “The Sandlot,” Seaknuckle
- Friday, Aug. 7: “Slumdog Millionaire,” Big Hoax
- Friday, Aug. 14: “Office Space,” Matt Traks of Signs Point East
- Saturday, Aug. 21: People’s Choice, 3:AM
That’s right – this weekend will feature two nights, two movies, two artists. Thank you very much, First Saturday. As always, it should be noted that the events are free, as long as you are 21 years old (or older, of course). The one exception to that rule will be Saturday, when Seaknuckle and “The Sandlot” will be open to all ages. The music typically begins around 7 p.m.; the movie then hits the giant inflatable screen once the sun goes down (let’s say, 8/8:30ish).
We’ll be there, introducing bands and giving away beer koozies (because that’s pretty much what our lives have been reduced to in the modern day), and rest assured that some YouTube videos will pop up every now and then from the performances. You can’t get much better than free, friends, and when you combine free music, a free movie and free beer koozies … well goodness gracious. What are you waiting for?
