Whew. What a beautiful day! Seems like the absolute perfect time to head down to the creek and see Mr. Matt Bednarsky perform as part of this week’s Alive@Five. We’re also knee-deep in the dog days of summer, so as you may expect, this appears to be a particularly mild weekend in and around Frederick, when it comes to live music. Not all is lost, though. We’ll be hosting Matt from Signs Point East (above) tomorrow night along Carroll Creek. He’ll be opening for the movie “Office Space” as part of the Downtown Frederick Partnership’s Movie Night On The Creek. The fun, as always, kicks off at 7 p.m. And it’s free. As we always like to say: You can’t get much better than free. The Reagan Years will be returning to Champion Billiards, too, and they seem to pack every single place they go. Our very near and dear friends in Seaknuckle will hit the Cafe Nola stage tomorrow night, too, and you know how much we love them. Plus, don’t forget Willie and all his Chaperones, who will be out in front of Isabella’s on Saturday. They rock-a-billy-ed 200 East last month along with some cornhole. There’s the bluegrass. There’s The Improbables. There’s The Altered States Of America. There’s The Deer Run Drifters. There’s Ghost Pepper (who was once the subject of a Q&A!). There’s the Oren Polak Duo. And then, of course, there’s Girls Night Out. We’ll have a whole boat-load of things to talk about next week, including our next event at the 200 East Art Haus, Flying Dog’s very exciting show with Of Montreal, Old Indian and Mothers, as well as the beginning of our brand new Jazz In The Vines series set to kick off next weekend. Oh, and don’t forget The Local Playlist tomorrow afternoon from 1 to 3 p.m. on WSHC. Can we meet back here, same bat time, same bat channel, Monday morning? We’ll count on it. Happy Middle-Of-August!
