Fire In Ice! Fire In Ice! Fire In Ice! Yes, friends. It’s a First Saturday here in Frederick, Maryland, and, in addition to all of the fire and all of the ice, there’s a hell of a lineup of music set for the next three days. Tonight’s crop is led by the excellent Mandolin Orange, who will be at the Weinberg Center as part of its Tivoli Discovery Series (AKA, you can pay what you want in order to get in the door). And we all love the Weinberg, right? Because in exactly two weeks, we’ll be rocking and rolling the Frederick Music Showcase Vol. 2. But you already know that because you saw Ricole’s video from this week, and you listened to our latest podcast episode … right? Elsewhere this weekend, our dear friends in Hard Swimmin’ Fish (above) will be joining the Woodshedders for a Mardi Gras party at the Opera House over in Shepherdstown. And trust us: If there’s a place to be for a Mardi Gras party, it’s at the Opera House over in Shepherdstown. A whole host of incredible tribute acts will be at Cafe 611 tomorrow night, and holy moly, you ought to give that a look, especially if you enjoy a bit of Metallica, Black Sabbath and the like. There’s some Vinyl Rhino. There’s some 7th Sun Band. There’s some jazz jam. There’s some Lovebug Junkies. And then, of course, there’s some Decapitated. It’s supposed to be 40 degrees and sunny.
