So … 200 East? Remember all that? Last we heard of it, the Frederick Fall Fest was rocking and rolling the fine October air and J Roddy Walston, Old Indian, Heavy Lights and Seaknuckle were entertaining you. And you. And you. And you. Before that, there was a Block Party. There was a Best Of The Best Fest. And, of course, there was 7/11.
Welp. It’s about time to push the on button again, and we thought we’d catch you up on a few things. So, as the headline reads … March: What’s up?
Friday, March 18. We’re going to call it a soft opening of sorts. With sign-ups beginning at 6 p.m., we are going to open the doors of 200 East for free to offer you – yes, you! – an open mic night. The indomitable Todd C. Walker is going to host the event, and we will have all the bells and whistles you need in order to perform all the music you might want to perform. Oh, and did we mention it’s free? We did? Just checking. Play begins at 7 p.m. Come hang and show 200 East what you got.
And then there’s Saturday, March 26, when the real fun kicks into gear. Stitch Early, local hip-hop artist extraordinaire, is fixin’ to release a brand new EP, and he’s wants to do it in style. So, here’s how it’s going to work: At 4 p.m., we’re going to open the 200 East doors. The man himself has been gracious enough to organize a Frederick-wide scavenger hunt. Between 4 and 4:30, you will have the ability to sign up for the scavenger hunt. At 4:30, you will be shoved out the door to partake in said scavenger hunt. You must return back to 200 East by 6 p.m., at which point an opening set by a DJ will already be in progress.
The most important part? The first person who completes the scavenger hunt will receive a bevy of prizes, all provided by Mr. Early’s imprint, Icon Natn. Those prizes? Well, we’re going to give that an announcement of its own as the date gets closer. Patience is a virtue, friends. Patience is a virtue.
Either way, you’ll want to get there early. Why? Because the first 50 people through the doors receive a free physical copy of the EP, “The Great Compromise.” At about 7 p.m., after the opening DJ set, Stitch will perform the EP – along with a host of other fabulous goodies – with an array of special guests. Tickets are 10 bucks. You can’t find a better deal in town. Like, really, though. You can’t.
So … as we said: March, what’s up? A free open mic. A scavenger hunt/CD Release party featuring Stitch Early.
You in?
