So, about a month and a half ago, you may have seen a call we put out for high-school-aged bands. And then, of course, if you didn’t see that, perhaps you saw the ads, reiterating the call, in something called a newspaper (those things still exist!). Either way, we asked people to reach out, and, miraculously, somehow, someway, much to our grateful surprise, people did just that.
Which leads us, naturally, to this: First and foremost, THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU and THANK YOU to everybody who sent over an email with some links and, occasionally, some Frederick Playlist-addressed videos. All of you are amazing. All of you deserve $500 million for the rest of forever, and even if you didn’t make the roster for this particular event, please keep in mind that we may just be reaching out at some point in the future for a different 200 East Designated Happening that will someday occur (until the city takes it away, which, don’t forget, could always happen by about 5 p.m. today).
But … enough with the small talk. You guys would probably like to know who’s set to play this thing on Saturday, April 23, right? Right. Here we go:
Now, for some details. The music will begin at 2 p.m. and it will take place in the parking lot of the 200 East Art Haus. Admission is $5 if you bring a skateboard (there’s a reason why this is called “Skate Jam,” duh), and $10 if you just want to bring your fine self, sans skateboard. This will be somewhat in conjunction with the Downtown Collective event that is scheduled to go on that evening. There’s a fashion show. And art. And … you get it. And then there’s Pitcrew. While all of this super-fun, super-awesome stuff is going down, Pitcrew is going to assemble a bit of a pop-up skate park for Those Who Skate to skate as the music inevitably annoys those downtown who do not particularly like loud music. Anyway, those dudes are so nice to be doing this, so you should check out more from Pitcrew here. Help them. Love them. Know them.
So, there’s all that, friends. As we are wont to do, we’ll have more details the week before the event (which, as it goes, is only three weeks away). Until then, though, brush up your skateboard skillz (with a z). It will be outdoors on a Saturday afternoon in April. What’s not to love?
