Well, well, well. In like a lion out like a lamb? Or is it in like a lamb out like a lion? Or does that only pertain to May? Anyway, welcome to April (not that it’s anybody’s birthday month or anything). You know what the beginning of a new month means. It means a First Saturday. So, while today may be the final day, ever, in the history of March 2016, new days are upon us beginning tomorrow. That sounded stupid. Moving on. There’s a lot going down in and around the Frederick area this weekend, in addition to all the First Saturday fun. Perhaps the most notable event is set for Cafe 611 on Saturday night (heavy! metal!) as Crowbar (above), Krass Judgement, BR Bloodbath, The New Reign and Snakehed will be coming to town. P.S. – that Crowbar video? It has more than a half-million views. Goodness, gracious. Elsewhere, Skribe is coming to The Blue Side, and it’s tonight, so that should be fun. Signs Point East will be at Cafe Nola on Friday, and the Joint Effort Collective (which features a whole lot of greatness) will be at Cafe Nola on Saturday. There’s the always-fun-to-type Drunk Naked Pirates. Jack Z & The Meteors are heading to Olde Towne. The fabulous Jeff Cosgrove is bringing some hella talent to Beans In The Belfry. Dis-Funk-Shun is at JoJo’s. And, as (most) always, there’s Vinyl Rhino. It’s going to be a very spring weekend (clouds and sun with a high near 60 on Saturday, or at least so says weather.com). You don’t want to just sit around and do nothing … do you?! Do you?!? We didn’t think so. Make damn sure that you don’t forget about Skate Jam in a few weeks and as Gregory Porter would say: Be good.
