Last week, we debuted a brand new feature called Celebrity Playlist. This week, we are following that up with yet another edition. That thing you feel creeping down your spine? It’s called “excitement.” This time up, we have Andy Stout, leader of local rockers Miss Lonelyheart. Those guys recently put out a brand new fantastic 7-inch and it’s called “Ordinary Living.” You should buy it. You should buy it now. They played an array of release shows last weekend and smart money says they will most likely be playing more shows sooner rather than later. He picked out some killer stuff here, including tunes from former Q&A subjects J Marinelli and Dot Dash, among others. Learn more about Miss Lonelyheart here. And you should learn more about them. Because they deserve your attention. Rock. Roll.
Soccer Team: “Employed New Beau”
I listen to a lot of music my friends and acquaintances make. The drummer from Soccer Team used to be in an amazing band called The Most Secret Method that Miss Lonelyheart played with several times. Soccer Team has great songwriting, production and vocals.

Dot Dash: “Flowers”
Dot Dash are from D.C. They are amazing musicians and very nice guys. Buy their albums!

Ex Hex: “Everywhere”
I don’t know the ladies in Ex Hex, but this album and this song is a serious ear worm that I like a lot.

Doug Gillard: “Present”
I really appreciate the song craft of Doug Gillard. He plays guitar in Guided By Voices and started out in Death of Samantha. Miss Lonelyheart once opened for his band GEM (so good!). I recently picked this disc up.

J. Robbins: “Abandoned Mansions”
J Robbins produced our second full length album, Geography. He’s a brilliant songwriter and has a golden voice. His last solo acoustic album – and this song, “Abandon Mansions” – is very, very good.

Government Issue: “Sheer Terror”
Government Issue was a very important band to me growing up and it also included J. Robbins. Recently, lead singer John Stabb passed away and I’ve been listening to them a good bit. They were one of a kind, and a hugely important band in the hardcore punk rock scene.

Superchunk: “Like A Fool”
I’ve been on a Superchunk kick lately. We used to cover this song a decade or so ago.

Sonic Youth: “Bad Moon Rising”
Seeing Donald Trump talk makes me want to smash stuff and listen to more Sonic Youth. Overthrow the dominant paradigm! “Bad Moon Rising” was very important to me when it came out, and I still love it and listen to it all these years later.

The Chords: “Something’s Missing”
I discovered The Chords last year. Missed them the first time around. Birt pop ala The Jam.

J Marinelli: “Eagleturkey”
We played a couple shows with our old friend J Marinelli a few months ago. I then stayed on the road and helped out with a few more shows with him. Here, he is playing a version of an old Braille Drivers song that Miss Lonelyheart also used to do a version of, “Eagleturkey.”

The Proletariat: “Options”
The Proletariat were a hardcore punk band from around Boston in the 1980s and were featured on the “This is Boston Not LA” compilation in 1982 (which is where I first heard them).
