You know the drill. A little while ago, two fine young men, Kenny Eaton and Jordan Miller, approached us with an idea for a partnership: Bring bands into Kenny’s Mystery Ton Studios, ask them to record a song, sit them down for an interview, video everything, and release all of it to the masses. Manning the cameras, of course, would be Jordan, along with his Gypsy Cab crew, and we would call the thing “Frederick One Take.”
Now, you remember our debut episode, right? Then our second episode, no? And then, of course, our third go at it? Plus, don’t forget episode number 4, you know? Wait. How about episode number 5? And then, naturally, we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention our season one finale. First, we had Cheshi, and those people are fabulous people. Second, we had Mr. Husband, and those people are fabulous people. Third, we had DaMood, and those people are fabulous people. Fourth, we had Crooked Hills, and those people are fabulous people. Fifth, we had DoubleMotorcycle and those people … well, yeah. But then sixth, we had Silent Old Mtns., and those people are fabulous people.
Anyway, now? Now, it’s time for episode 7, which is actually the season premiere of season 2! Cue the high fives.
The Plate Scrapers are one of the premiere Americana/bluegrass acts in and around Frederick. Or shoot. The state of Maryland, even. They’ve been tearing things up (as the children say) for a few years now, and it only made sense that we chose them to headline the next Frederick Music Showcase! Indeed, set for Thursday, Feb. 15, these guys will be stepping into the Weinberg spotlight for the one night a year they let us crowd the place with local bands. It’s fun. Honestly. It is. Anyway, for this episode of Frederick One Take … well, I couldn’t make it, so our friend Chris Sands, he of the Uncapped Podcast, stepped in to come off the bench with authority. As for The Plate Scrapers, they performed a rousing rendition of their song, “Truckers Aspirin.” Dig what you hear? Come on out to the Weinberg in a few weeks.
