It’s always a fun Weekend Playlist when you get to use your Jack Funk video to help promote a show. Behold Nick’s acoustic performance of “Freight Train,” as recorded in an abandoned warehouse sometime ago. Those fine young lads will be at Cafe Nola this weekend, and we promise they will not disappoint. Also this weekend … well, there’s a whole hell of a lot going on, though little of it is music-centric. One thing that will feature music, of course, will be the Festival of the Arts, which will take over Carroll Creek Friday, Saturday and Sunday. For that, expect an array of fun. And while we profiled Luna & The Lost Keys earlier today, it is with a sad face and heavy intestines that we report Alive @ Five is off for this week. Stupid thunderstorms. Fear not, though, because there will, indeed, be music elsewhere around town. For instance, Community Center will be taking the Nola stage. Chris Smaha will be after-partying what was supposed to be Alive @ Five at The Blue Side. Double Down action is at Cactus Flats. Scott Kurt is headed to The Blue Side. Firekite will be at Bushwallers. It’s All Good is at Champions. And then, of course, there’s Stripmall Ballad. And that’s a pretty great band name. Rain, rain, go away. Come back … in a little while? Be nice, friends. You won’t regret it.
