Hey, for those who didn’t catch it, Samuel Powers released a brand new video this week and it’s for their song, “July 1973.” It’s so much fun, there are even some special guests in it. They will be performing this song (maybe) Saturday night for your entertainment at Sky Stage. They will be splitting the bill with Silent Old Mtns. and they promise it will be more satisfying than a box of Cheez-its. Elsewhere this weekend-before-the-Fourth-of-July, the Frederick Jazz Festival is going down along the creek, and we sure do love us some jazz. In its second year, the afternoon promises to be can’t-miss. Also, Alive @ Five will be going down in a couple hours and some Drunk Naked Pirates are going to take it over. There’s some Hard Swimmin’ Fish. There’s some Monocacy Jazz Quartet. There’s some Freddie Long (in the duo context). There’s some Time Columns, who always put on a swell show. There’s some Marzy Maddox, who are releasing a brand, shiny, new record. And then, even though it’s not on this list, Langhorne Slim will be plugging in on Flying Dog’s front lawn Sunday night. Or, in other words, you’ll be hungover Monday. Happy Freedom Day, friends. Who even knew the Fourth of July could fall on a Wednesday?
