Somehow, for the fifth year, we are heading back to the Weinberg. Indeed, the Frederick Music Showcase lives, and this year promises to be the most special one yet, as everything is set to go down Thursday, Feb. 14 (that’s Valentine’s Day, for those keeping score), at 7 p.m. As has been the case historically, tickets are $10 in advance and $15 the day of the show.
Now, because Year No. 5 is a nice, round, celebratory number, we thought we would take a second to reflect upon Showcase past. In our first year, the Weinberg Center was kind enough to allow us to host Old Indian, Heavy Lights, The Knolly Moles and Hard Swimmin’ Fish. The second year saw daMood, Silent Old Mtns., Katie Powderly and Freddie Long. Year three featured Stitch Early, Guys In Thin Ties, Cheshi and Bad Seed Rising. The fourth edition, then, offered up SoulXChange, Time Columns and The Plate Scrapers.
Whew. That was a lot.
So, who’s up this year? Welp. Check it out.
We’ll have Luna, who recently joined us for a very special episode of Frederick One Take:
We’ll have J Berd, who also joined us for a Frederick One Take in season 2:
We’ll also have Mr. Husband, who was one of our first-ever guests on Frederick One Take:
And finally, we will also have ilyaimy, who we have not yet had on an episode of Frederick One Take, but surely hope to someday.
Tickets are on sale at the Weinberg Center box office — or by heading over to the theater’s website — and we can say with the utmost sincerity that we hope to see 14 million people there. Because … as always … who knows what the future holds.
