It’s the second weekend of April and precisely one week and two days until somebody’s birthday. So … who’s excited?! That was rhetorical. This weekend plans to be a good one in and around town. The great dudes in Fractal Cat will be hitting Cafe Nola on Saturday night, and you remember when they landed on our year-end list in 2014, right? Right. So, you’ll want to check that out. Prophets Of The Abstract Truth will be jazzin’ it up at Isabella’s this evening while the regular slew of open mics go down. Adrienne Smith, who everyone loves, will be checking in at the Frederick Coffee Company on Friday night. Grand Ole Ditch, who released a pretty good record last year, will be sharing the stage with Bumper Jacksons (above) in Shepherdstown. There is a song circle. There is bluegrass. Our dear friends in Hard Swimmin’ Fish will be making their triumphant return to JoJo’s. A little Pete Looney. A little Diamond Alley. A little Reckless Island. And. Of course. Mouth Breather. We love you to death, and we can only hope the rain and, at the very least, the cold will subside for a nice weekend of music. As we sometimes like to say … Viva la Thursday!
