T-minus one week until the Frederick Music Showcase Vol. 2. We’ve debuted exclusive videos from Retro/Ricole Barnes, Katie Powderly, Freddie Long and Silent Old Mtns. in the last month, and now we’re a mere seven days away. You have your tickets already, right? We hear they’re going fast (that’s not true). But before we get there, we have this weekend to consider. The Juanito Pascual New Flamenco Trio will be taking the Weinberg stage tomorrow night, and from what we understand, that has something to do with Valentine’s Day. Or love. Or happiness. Or some such nonsense. Hard Swimmin’ Fish, in an act of serendipity, will be at JoJo’s Saturday night, and if you remember last year, we showed up at the exact same place with the exact same band to remind all you lovely faces that the Showcase was happening the following week. Memories. Smoke N Mangos (above) will be taking the Cafe Nola Designated Music Space this weekend with the Skeleton Twins, and that promises to be a load of fun. And then there’s something called Superbueno. Your guess is as good as ours. Anyway, try to stay warm this weekend, friends.
