Well, it’s Labor Day weekend. So. Well. It’s Labor Day weekend. It’s also First Saturday. And from what we understand, this First Saturday involves dogs. And that makes people happy, doesn’t it? You know what else makes people happy? Music. Live music, in fact. And, as it goes, there’s a bunch of live music set to go down in and around the Frederick area over the next three days. Among that live music? Well, you have Jack Funk (above) at Olde Towne on Saturday. You also have a bluegrass open jam this evening, as well as a blues jam session out at Cactus Flats (home to This & That). A whole bunch of horns are scheduled to take over Alive@Five this evening, and “a whole bunch of horns” always promises “special.” There’s a tribute to British Invasion music tomorrow (that’s Friday, for those you keeping score) at Elk Run Winery. The Dirty Middle, whose lead singer played a few tunes for us over at Flying Dog a couple weeks ago, is coming to Cafe Nola. But if you miss them this weekend, don’t fret – they’ll be part of next Friday’s Goddess Jam at the 200 East Art Haus. More on that, of course, next week. And then, if you’re looking for a band to see because said band has a truly great name, don’t sleep on In Dog Years, I’m Dead. That might be our favorite band name in months. We’ll be back next week with some reviews, Q&As and all of everything you’ll need to know about Friday’s Goddess-centric event. Stay safe this weekend, friends. Viva la autumn. Viva la college football.
