So, as you know, we here at Frederick Playlist have a history with trying to produce video (hashtag) content to try and help some of the local bands get some exposure. If you recall, we’ve done some stuff in the super secret FNP offices (with tons of paper surrounding the proceedings), we’ve done some stuff at downtown shops, and, of course, we’ve done some stuff at the 200 East Art Haus.
A little while ago, two fine young men, Kenny Eaton and Jordan Miller, approached us with an idea for a partnership: Bring bands into Kenny’s Mystery Ton Studios, ask them to record a song, sit them down for an interview, video everything, and release all of it to the masses. Manning the cameras, of course, would be Jordan, along with his Gypsy Cab crew, and we would call the thing “Frederick One Take.”
Now, alas, here we are. A few months later and we are beyond thrilled to premiere the first episode, featuring the fabulous human beings in Cheshi.
The song? “Confrontations Of Hopelessness.”
The interview? Well, we touch on when we might hear new music from the band, what goes into the group’s songwriting process, which local projects they are currently listening to, and the story behind a brand new song of theirs, “Poison.”
We hope to release these monthly and we already have at least two more we are chomping at the bit to share. So, hopefully, you dig. For more on Mystery Ton Studios, go visit Kenny’s website, which is radical. For more on Gypsy Cab Productions, go visit Jordan’s website, and see how great he looks in a tie. Be good.
