Oh, this is special, friends. For the final Frederick Playlist Presents … installment before our second-annual Frederick Music Showcase, we have Silent Old Mtns. … remixing their song “Ash & Bone” with the great Retro/Ricole Barnes. Can it get any more exclusive than that? No. The answer is no. It can’t.

In case you have been living under a rock, these two acts, along with Katie Powderly and Freddie Long, will take the Weinberg Center stage next Thursday. Cue the links to everybody else’s Frederick Playlist Presents sessions …

Also worth noting? This: Remember how we said if you bought your ticket to the Showcase by February 5, you would be entered into a drawing for a limo ride to the event? Well … we have a winner! And that winner’s name is Caitlin Leahy. So congrats, Caitlin! At least we know one person will be there next week, and that’s always comforting. We’ll be in contact about what happens next.

Well, this is fun.

We’re going to make history on February 18 at the Weinberg Center when Retro/Ricole Barnes takes the stage with his band, DaMood. How so? Well, it will be the first time live hip-hop has ever been performed on the Weinberg stage. Or, at least, so we’re told. And that’s pretty neat.

We’d also guess that live hip-hop has never been performed at the General Treaty Store in downtown Frederick … until now. Behold our third Playlist Presents session in anticipation of the upcoming Frederick Music Showcase Vol. 2. It features Retro/Ricole Barnes performing “Keep Calm and Blow Up” with members of his band, DaMood. There’s still time to win a limo ride to the event, so head over to the Weinberg’s website to grab some tickets! Note the enthusiasm.

Actually, because of the snow, the above video is the only one we’ll be able to share of our super-exclusive, super-awesome, super-fun Frederick Playlist Presents … performance featuring Katie Powderly. For those who have been living under … well … snow for the past few weeks, Katie will be part of our second-annual Frederick Music Showcase at the Weinberg Center on February 18. You’ll be there, right? Because you’ve already purchased your tickets … right?!?!

The name of the song is “Beneath Blue Light,” which you could have found on the Frederick Music Vol. 1 compilation, which you would have received … if you came to our first-ever Frederick Fall Fest in conjunction with Flying Dog Brewery, all the way back in October. With the Frederick Music Showcase Vol. 2 on the horizon, we’ll be rolling out four brand new exclusive Frederick Playlist Presents sessions on this very website over the course of the next month. Exciting, we know. This time around, though, we are coming to you live and direct from the Treaty General Store right here in beautiful downtown Frederick, Maryland (insert smile)! And in case you were wondering … well, yes. Each video will feature a Frederick Music Showcase artist (and perhaps some surprises down the road – just saying).

First up? The indomitable Freddie Long! He’ll be performing last at the Weinberg on Thursday, Feb. 18 (get your tickets now!), so we thought we’d release his super-duper-exclusive performances first. The above video is a take on his original song “The Punch Line.” The below video, however, is a cover of David Bowie’s “Young Americans” (we recorded these performances a couple days after the icon passed away, and Freddie was inspired). Both are radical. Both are worth your time.
