What better way to remind you of our contest, giving away four free tickets to Saturday’s JoAnn Garrett Classic … than to feature a photo from the concert for which we last gave away a pair of free tickets?! Thus, behold Lucero rocking and rolling during their Flying Dog Summer Sessions show a couple weeks ago. For those who missed it last night (or for those who didn’t read the first sentence of this post), again: We are giving away four free tickets to this weekend’s event at the Frederick Fairgrounds. The show, in addition to being all for a great cause, will feature Youngblood Hawke, Royal Teeth, Ghost Hotel and many, many more. You can enter by doing a whole ton of things, and the giveaway ends on Friday morning. Act now, as they say on late-night infomercials, before it’s too late! Photo courtesy of Cassandra Mullinix. Photo Of The Day
Might we interest you in a photo from the Open Minds benefit on Friday, July 11, at Shepherdstown’s Opera House? Check out the lovely Cassi Raye in the frame above these words, and then, just to make sure the week doesn’t begin without music, check out our Video Of The Day from a few weeks ago when we featured her. Oh, this is too perfect. Check out the above photo from Saturday’s show at Flying Dog Brewery. The shot, as you can see, is of the people who landed in the front row as Lucero was performing. More importantly? Check out some lucky lady’s lovely koozie as she holds her adult beverage over the barrier. Yeeahhhhhh! Frederick Playlist: 1. Utz Koozie Universe: 0. We begin the week with an image from Saturday night’s Flying Dog Summer Sessions concert featuring Lucero and Baltimore’s Brooks Long And The Mad Dog No Good, the latter of which you can see here. We’ll have more on the weekend later, but for now, just know this: Brooks Long and his band of awesomeness might just be our new favorite local(ish) trio.
Today’s photo comes from Flying Dog’s Facebook page and features JJ Grey on the brewery’s front lawn last month. Why? Because it serves as a good reminder that the second installment of Flying Dog’s Summer Sessions concert series takes place this Saturday and features Lucero and Brooks Long and the Mad Dog No Good. There’s still time left to enter our two-ticket giveaway for the weekend’s show, so as they say on late-night infomercials: Act now!
To begin the week, we thought we’d share this tiny picture of the fantastic Chris Morris working the Heavy Lights merch table during our Launch Weekend last month. Why do that? Because the boys in the band were kind enough to step in and play for Ghost Hotel, who had to pull out of their show at the last minute Saturday night at Cafe Nola. While we weren’t able to make it, we are pretty sure it was better than sliced bread. Oh, and by the way: have you picked up their latest record, “Mad Minds,” yet? Because if you haven’t, you should. And right after you do that, check back here in a few hours to learn about how to win two free tickets to see Lucero this weekend at Flying Dog Brewery! Photo courtesy of Cassandra Mullinix. Last week, we offered up a quick pic of Miss Lonelyheart during their reunion tour at the Black Cat in D.C. Today, we offer up a shot from the final show of that tour, which took place right here in Frederick at the MET on June 29. And while we were 102 percent positive that everyone had a better-than-great time when we ran that first photo, the above picture, without question, brings that number up to, say, 198 percent. Today’s Photo Of The Day comes from Miss Lonelyheart and their show on June 24 at the Black Cat in Washington D.C. Why post this now? Because they wrapped up their mini reunion tour last night at the MET here in Frederick and even though we weren’t there, we are 102 percent positive that everyone had a better-than-great time.
