Well, this is fun. Check out Goodloe Byron working last night on some art to put in the windows at the 200 East Art Haus. What’s the art for? You guessed it: The Frederick Fall Fest, which is, in case you forgot, less than a month away now. You’ve got your ticket already, right? Photo by Chris Sands. Photo Of The Day
We weren’t around town this weekend for the always-fun In The Street, but we heard it rained. Also of note: It rained last year, too. Either way, we thought we’d share this shot of The Dixie Power Trio as they performed Saturday. The best part of this is the fact that they are actually a quartet and not a trio. So, there’s that. Anyway, happy Monday! Photo by Graham Cullen. He’s amazing on all of our video work, and you can follow him on Twitter here.
This might be our favorite picture from Saturday’s festivities. Check out Stitch Early as he performs at our Block Party. The hands are in the air. The lights are a pretty color. And the flows are flowin’. Happy Hump Day! Photo by Chris Sands. He’s the best Chris Sands in the world and you can follow him on Twitter here.
Yep. That’s about it. A random jam session, this is. Or, as the cutline reads, “From left, Dan Wilson, Kirk Evans, and Charlie Cottingham perform during an informal music session outside City Hall in Frederick. ‘Just friends out picking,’ said Wilson, adding that there are fewer mosquitos at City Hall than at their respective homes.” And a happy Wednesday to you, too. It might not be the best photo we’ve ever posted, but here’s a shot of the Matthew Gillich Trio performing two Saturdays ago at Big Cork Vineyards. It was part of Jazz In The Vines, a series we helped coordinate with the winery. Gillich opened for Jeff Cosgrove, and as you can see from this photo, a good time was had by all. More Jazz In The Vines dates are in the works, but for now, let’s point out that it’s officially Block Party week here at Frederick Playlist. And you best believe we’ll be back later today with something to remind everyone of as much. Jazz. Hip-hop. We got it all.
We thought we’d look back at Saturday’s FUNomenon for a middle-of-the-week photo (hey, if nothing else, it reminds you that the next Saturday is only three days away!). So … well … here’s a shot of country music superstar Trace Adkins performing at the fairgrounds last weekend. You really ought to check out what the event is all about and make a tiny donation, if you can, even though the event itself has come and gone. To learn more about how to do that, click here. We’re going to start the week with this photo of 3:AM performing as part of the final Movie Night On The Creek on Friday. They opened for “Interstellar” (and, well, the mayor) and a great time was had by all. We’d like to thank the Downtown Frederick Partnership for asking us to be involved booking the music for this summer’s run and, of course, we’d also like to thank Matt Traks, Seaknuckle, Todd C. Walker, Jack Funk and Big Hoax. See you back at the creek for some movies and music next year? Let’s hope so.
Well now this is fun. We wrapped up the Levitt Amp free concert series last night along the creek with Hard Swimmin’ Fish and it was a grand ol’ time. This photo here pretty much sums it up better than any words could. A huge thanks to the Downtown Frederick Partnership for spearheading the series and even more so to Levitt Amp, who thought Frederick was one of the 10 best cities in all the universe. Can we pull off the win again next year? Only time will tell, but don’t forget to vote when the time comes! Photo by Bill Green. Let’s start the week with this shot of Freddie Long (and the always-fun Sweet B) from our Best Of The Best Fest last weekend. Why post this? Because it’s worth noting that the voting for the battle of the bands is now officially closed. Winners, for reasons that go beyond logical comprehension, won’t be announced until September 30. Hey. Don’t shoot the messenger. In any case, thanks for stopping by to play some tunes, Freddie! Killer horn section.
Well, that guy in the orange shirt looks awfully happy. Check out this photo from Saturday’s Best Of The Best Fest as some dudes (Sticktime) play some music and other dudes (and dudettes) dance. There’s still time to vote for your favorite, remember. You wouldn’t want to not have your voice heard, right? Photo by Sam Yu.
