Holy moly, Saturday was exhausting. But at the end of the day, it was all worth it. Because these dudes came on stage and transfixed a couple hundred people with their undying energy and unparalleled expertise. If you missed Giraffes? Giraffes!, you missed a hell of a night. Huge thanks to those guys, as well as Time Columns and Kabob-O-Taj, for making Saturday night an incredible musical memory at the 200 East Art Haus. And, of course, thank you for showing up! Assuming you did, of course. Because if you didn’t … well, that’s sad.
Photo Of The Day
Saturday night. Time Columns. Kabob-O-Taj. Giraffes? Giraffes!. The fine men in Time Columns have been producing these awesome promo videos each day this week, and today’s photo is a screen shot of one of them. Everyone needs to get weird every now and then, right? Right?!
Awwwwww. Well, isn’t that cute. The indomitable Todd C. Walker opened up the night on Friday (this photo was actually taken during a song) before “Anchorman” was projected on the big inflatable screen along the creek (via the Downtown Frederick Partnership). Then, on Saturday, Seaknuckle rocked and rolled before “The Sandlot” took centerstage. This Friday, Big Hoax will perform until darkness, and then once the sun goes down, “Slumdog Millionaire” will receive your utmost fullest attention. It’s all free, friends. You can’t get much better than that. The music starts at 7 p.m. Be there. Don’t be square.
So … were you there last night? Did you happen to wander past the creek and see some live-and-in-color music? If you did, you heard the sweet, sunny sounds of Dale And The ZDubs. Thus, this photo. We are now more than halfway through the Levitt Amp free concert series on Tuesdays here in Frederick. Up next are The Crawdaddies, six days from now. You’re up for some zydeco, right? Let’s hope so.
Hey, hey. Saturday. Were you there? We hope so. Because if you were, you would have seen these fine men perform as part of Monocacy Brewing’s annual cornhole tournament. They rockabilly-ed all afternoon long and we can’t thank them enough for it. A special thanks also goes out to Todd C. Walker for his quick opening set before Willie and all his Chaperones took the stage. It’s now onward and upward to Aug. 8. We’ll have so much more on that in the weeks to come! Photo by Bill Green. He’s got the greatest voice in the world and you can follow him on Twitter here.
It’s an uninteresting photo, but hear us out: Remember the Movie Nights On The Creek, organized by the Downtown Frederick Partnership, that we were at last summer? Well, they’re back! (And, of course, better than ever). They begin again this Friday with “Jurassic Park,” and again, we are the ones responsible for the music. Kicking things off this year will be some of the dudes from Jack Funk. Thus this photo of their gear, taken from their Facebook page. (Hey, it’s the best we could do). The music will start at about 7 p.m. The movie begins when the sun goes down. It’s all free and as we all know by now, there’s nothing better than free.
Let’s start the week with a shot from Saturday’s Flying Dog concert featuring Surfer Blood, Sun Club and People’s Blues Of Richmond. The people you see here? That’s Surfer Blood. We gave away about 48,138 tickets to 200 East shows coming up, so that was super fun. That’s what introducing The Wheel O’ Playlist will do. Thanks so much to everyone who stopped by to say hello. There’s only one more of these left for this summer. Can you believe it’s almost August? Photo by Sam Yu.
Ohhh, Jon looks so at peace, doesn’t he!? Check out this shot from Saturday and reminisce on why you should head out and get a copy of Seaknuckle’s “Get Over It.” If we could see the dude smile like that to himself all the time, our hearts would be warmer than a microwave oven on high! Happy Wednesday, friends. Happy Wednesday. Photo courtesy of Cassandra Mullinix. For more of her photos, visit https://www.facebook.com/bucketofrock.
Well, you knew we had to post this, right? We can’t remember who took it and how it ended up looking so amazing, but here’s a picture of the venue at 200 E. Patrick Street in downtown Frederick. Saturday is the night. You can check out Seaknuckle. Silent Old Mtns. And Rozwell Kid. A beer pong tournament. Rocks. Rolls. Read this from yesterday and you’ll get the drift. Check back in a few hours to read a review of the band’s upcoming record, “Get Over It.” And no, it was not written by us. UPDATE: This photo was taken by http://www.digitalspeedphotography.com/.
