You best believe we’re going to be hitting the Seaknuckle, Silent Old Mtns. and Rozwell Kid stuff hard this week. Saturday night will be historic! To commemorate as much, here’s a photo of Seaknuckle’s merchandise at Cafe Nola last year. And oh, you best believe that the band will have some merch on hand Saturday … when they release their first-ever LP at 200 E. Patrick St.! The excitement. It’s nuts. Photo Of The Day
Today’s photo features Brooks Long performing at the First Friday at The Park West Bazaar in Baltimore last month (yes, today means it’s July now). Even if he doesn’t return emails or Twitter messages about possible bookings, we still love us some Brooks Long, so this photo makes us happy. For those wondering, they will be in Manassas on July 7. Get hip. Photo courtesy of Cassandra Mullinix. For more of her photos, visit https://www.facebook.com/bucketofrock.
Well, we weren’t here on Thursday. Sorry about that. No Weekend Playlist. No Video Of The Day. Did you notice? Doubtful. Either way, to make it up to you, we thought we’d share this photo of the Alive@Five crowd from the series’ first week, if only to represent Thursday somehow. Does that makes sense? It’s a stretch, isn’t it? Anyway. We’ll be back in a few hours with an awesomely awesome treat for a Monday. Don’t count us out just yet! Photo by Graham Cullen. He’s great. You can follow him on Twitter here.
Today’s photo features a press shot of the fine lads in Marzy Maddox, who will hold an EP release party on Friday down along the creek. For those under the impression that the show was going to be at The Faux School … well, it’s not. Instead, the event is still going down – for free – at Carroll Creek Amphitheatre and it will also feature Samuel Powers and Kennedy. Free music. A Friday night. An EP Release. What more could you want? We’ll be back in a few hours to post a Q&A with the band.
Welp. Did you make it out to Flying Dog’s front lawn on Saturday? We did (along with the fine young men in Seaknuckle). And even though the fun kicked off a half-hour early, the impending monsoon/apocalypse/end of days kept Hurray For The Riff Raff off the stage, sadly. Still, before the storm rolled in, Mechanical River were able to take the stage and get in their opening set. And thus … this photo. We’ll be at the next Flying Dog show on July 18 with Surfer Blood. That day’s forecast? A 100 percent chance of awesome. Photo courtesy of Cassandra Mullinix. For more of her photos, visit https://www.facebook.com/bucketofrock.
We’re going to go ahead and post this press photo of Hurray For The Riff Raff because A) They will be on Flying Dog’s front lawn this weekend. B) We are still giving away tickets to the show. And C) Unfortunately, our interview with the band fell through at the very last minute. So, in lieu of a Q&A that you might not have read anyway, here’s Alynda looking mysterious and awesome. There are still tickets left, friends. You won’t want to miss it.
We’re going to start the day with this photo of Heavy Lights at the Maryland Craft Beer Festival last month. Heavy Lights, if you remember, opened for Real Estate at one of last year’s Summer Sessions on Flying Dog’s front lawn. And, in case you were wondering, yes, we will again be at all of this year’s Flying Dog Summer Sessions shows, giving away koozies, introducing some bands, and chatting with all the fine individuals who are kind enough to stop by and say hello. But we’ll have more on that later. For now, just gaze at these pretty, lovely people. Photo courtesy of Cassandra Mullinix. For more of her photos, visit https://www.facebook.com/bucketofrock.
Today’s photo comes from WTMD’s latest First Thursdays installment, which went down last Thursday and featured The Lone Below, Rubblebucket and The Districts. The series takes place in Baltimore’s Canton Waterfront Park for free each first Thursday of the month. The next concert, obviously, is slated for July 2. Details, though, are unavailable. Also of note: The Districts are from Lititz, Pennsylvania. So, let’s hear it for Pennsylvania! Happy Hump Day. Photo courtesy of Cassandra Mullinix. We’re going to start the week off with this photo of Red Sammy at the Maryland Craft Beer Festival on May 30. And you know what? Those guys are The Best. They don’t take what some silly nincompoop says too seriously, they always seem to maintain a strong sense of who they are, and they work relentlessly. They work so relentlessly, in fact, that they recently posted a brand new song online (and they were even nice enough to email us about it!). As Adam Trice, the band’s leader said, “This song is the most sonic, high-fidelity, lush sounding song we have yet documented.” So, that’s impressive. Check it out here. We’ll be back in a little bit to talk a thing or two about a thing or two. Photo courtesy of Cassandra Mullinix. For more of her photos, visit https://www.facebook.com/bucketofrock.
Well, here’s a photo of Rhin performing last Friday at The Opera House over in Shepherdstown. This would be a great time to remind you to tune into The Local Playlist, why? Because we played Rhin on the show last week as the great Cassandra Mullinix sat in for the entire two hours, playing some of her favorite local music. You, yourself, can listen every Friday on WSHC at about 1 p.m. Don’t care much for terrestrial radio? That’s OK, because you can listen online here. It’s a lot of fun. We promise.
