“It’s a love that lasts forever. It’s a love that has no past.” That’s gotta be one of Lennon’s greatest lines, right? Right. Check out Nicky C and the R.S.B. covering this Beatles classic and then head on down to Cafe 611 tonight to see the band perform along with Cutting Agency. The festivities kick off at 8 p.m. and all you’ll need is a tiny five-dollar bill to get in the door. Is there a better way to spend a Tuesday night in Frederick, Maryland? The answer is no.
Video of the Day
Hey, did you notice last night that we uploaded a video on YouTube from a recent open mic at Cafe Nola? Well, if you didn’t, now you have. The most pressing issue, of course, is the fact that we have no idea who this is, so if you happen to take a look and can answer that question – and you subsequently let us know – we will buy you six pounds of Swedish Fish. Though if nobody is reading this … well, then I guess we lose. Either way, this a pretty great performance. A big thanks goes out to the fabulous Rachel S. Karas for taking the video.
Hey, what are you doing on Friday? Anything fun? Well, in case you happen to be looking for something awesomely awesome to do, you can check out the fine lads in Moogatu at Cafe 611 for the nice low price of $10. The festivities kick off at 8 p.m. and The Mantras will be taking the Cafe 611 stage, too, at some point throughout the night. We mean, what else are you going to do? See “Gone Girl” for the fourth time?! That’s what we thought.
Oh, wait. So you need something else to do the day after Halloween?! Boy, oh, boy. Aren’t you in luck! A few doors down from Cafe Nola is JoJo’s Tap House. And guess who’s going to be there? You’ve got it: Rockville’s Hand Painted Swinger, whose “My Last Laugh” you can hear above. Indeed, maybe Big Hoax takes a break over at Nola and you don’t want to stop rocking and rolling. All you have to do is step outside, take a right, and boom: The rocking and rolling shall continue. Why? Because the rocking and rolling never ends! Notice the exclamation point. It’s Oct. 28, which means there are only three days until Halloween, for those so inclined to celebrate Halloween. As for those who indeed are so inclined to celebrate Halloween … well, one of your options here in town will be the fabulous Cafe 611, where a gigantic Shindig (their words, not ours) will go down all through the night and the fantastic fellas in Cyrenic will take the stage. Which brings us to today’s video: It’s the official clip for their “The Whites Of Your Lies,” which, if you think about it, is a pretty great name for a song. Tickets are 10 bucks for Friday’s blowout, but if you act now, you can save $1.50. Find out all you need to know about the event here.
Today’s video comes from Baltimore hip-hop artist Sean Toure. Why? Because he will be at the third installment of the Last Saturdays hip-hop series this Saturday at the Church Street Pub. You know who else will be there? Us. And that’s all you really need to know, right? Right. So, check him out, rearrange your Saturday night accordingly, and come say hello as we hip and hop all night long.
We say it 10,000,000 times a week, but it’s worth saying again: Get a hold of us, and we’ll get a hold of you. Figuratively. Not literally. Or, something like that. Anyway, check out this new video from Adam Trice and his band Red Sammy out of the Baltimore area. It’s of their song, “I Got Creepy When Lou Reed Died.” If nothing else, that’s a pretty great title for a song, is it not? Find out more about Red Sammy here.
We’ve said it 500,000 times, but we’ll say it 500,000 times more: If you reach out to us and have something for us to hear, we’re always going to have perky, pointed ears, arms fully reaching back in your direction. Today’s video comes from Philadelphia folk outfit The End Of America, who will be at Cafe Nola on Sunday night. We received a tweet yesterday from the fine people at Baltimore Folk Fest, alerting us to as much, and boom: The next thing you know, The End Of America is huge in Frederick. Or, well, huge on Frederick Playlist, at least. And that’s got to count for something, right? Maybe? Bahh. Anyway, remember: It’s not hard friends – just let us know what’s up and we will forever try to help in any way we can. It’s all out of love, you know. L.O.V.E.
Hey. Have you heard the news that Cafe 611 is bringing in a pretty heavy name on Thursday night? Well, in case you haven’t … now you have: Former Relapse Records recording artists Today Is The Day will be taking the stage, along with Lord Mantis, Fortress and March To Victory in what promises to be a delightfully ruckus evening. The festivities kick off at 7 p.m. and tickets are 15 bucks. Hey, it says 260,577 people have viewed this video on YouTube and 260,577 people can’t lie, now can they? That’s what we thought.
Well, hey there. Check out this performance of the song “Goodnight Church St.” from the Secondhand Ramblers and then, if you just so happen to be in the mood to venture out into the wild this evening, head on over to Ayse Meze Lounge to check out the band live and in color. Hey – with no Alive @ Five, what else could you possibly have to do? That’s what we thought.
