Well, it’s St. Patrick’s Day. So, the better question is, why wouldn’t we post a video that came from something called ShamrockFest? Donegal X-Press were in town as part of In The Street and if memory serves, one of us introduced them. And considering how there’s only one person who ever writes these posts … well, yeah. Anyway, they have also played at Bushwallers. So, really: You should check them out. And then go buy a Shamrock Shake. Because those things? Those things are gosh-darm God-send, gosh-darn-it. Happy Green Day!
Video of the Day
Saturday night, friends. What do you have going on? The weather’s all nice. The snow seems to be gone (for now). It’s midway through March. It’s the day after Friday The 13th. And Moondog Medicine Show will be rocking and rolling at JoJo’s beginning at 9 p.m. Thus, the above video. It appears as though the weekend music is beginning to ramp up again now that the better weather is right around the corner, so, as the great Macy Gray would say: Get up. Get out. And do something.
It’s Friday the 13th this week. There will be some strange stuff going down. Surely, you’ll be partaking in said strange stuff, right? Let’s hope so. Baltimore group ilyAIMY will be strangein’ it up at Cafe Nola along with The Honest Mistakes. Above, you can check out ilyAIMY covering one of the all-time classic Stevie Wonder songs because as Cafe Nola’s website points out, these guys have “been living off paper cuts and string cuts” for quite a while now. So, there’s that. In case you’re wondering, yes, ilyAIMY means “I Love You And I Miss You,” and yes, the fun kicks off at 9:30 p.m.
Whoa, there. How about that snow?! Fear not, though, friends, because through sleet, rain, or whatever other force of nature might come our way, the music never stops. Thus, behold a video from our showcase, a showcase that went down two weeks ago today. So … check out Old Indian performing “South Carolina” at the Weinberg Center, cuddle up under some warm blankets, grab a can of PBR, turn on “The Today Show” and have yourself a fabulous snow day! And such.
For today’s video, we thought we’d share a performance from the Frederick Music Showcase on Feb. 19 (yes, you can expect an obnoxious amount of photos and videos to come down the pipeline through the weeks. Because, duh). Here, check out Hard Swimmin’ Fish performing “Have Your Way” during their opening set. They seem to be having fun. Did you have fun? We hope so.
Today is the day! Today is the day! As a reminder that tonight is our first-ever Frederick Music Showcase at the Weinberg Center, we are going to round out the week’s videos with a couple performances from our Frederick Playlist Presents … sessions that feature Old Indian and Heavy Lights. Heavy Lights should hit the stage around 8:45 and Old Indian will do so about an hour after them. Tickets are still on sale. The weather might be cold, but the Weinberg will be smokin’. OK. That was cheesy.
Again: What. You’re surprised?! All the videos this week will pertain to our first-ever Frederick Music Showcase on Thursday. If you’ve been checking back with us through the weeks, you might have seen the Frederick Playlist Presents … sessions we recorded with each of the four acts set to take the Weinberg stage. Today, we are grabbing the first two bands on Thursday night’s bill, Hard Swimmin’ Fish and The Knolly Moles, and reposting one of each’s performances. Above, you’ll find the Fish’s “Put Me Down” and below, you’ll find the Moles’ “Buzzed.” Tickets are on sale, remember. Naturally, the anticipation is unbearable. T-minus 72 hours!
We begin to wind Seaknuckle Week down with this video of the great Colin Shultzaberger recording drums for a track on the band’s upcoming LP (and by “upcoming,” we mean, “sometime before we die,” of course). We’ll be back in a little bit with a review of their EP, “Nailed It,” but for now, carve out three minutes and watch this man work.
We just keep on keepin’ on with Seaknuckle Week, as Mr. Belding – AKA The Big Bopper – would say on “Saved By The Bell.” Today’s video features the always charming Colin Shultzaberger, drummer for Seaknuckle, trying to balance himself on a ball while taking a break from tracking drums in the studio. Because what’s a Seaknuckle Week without videoing somebody trying to balance himself on a ball? Duh. We’ll be back later today with part two of our three-part series. Are you excited? We are.
We’ve come to the end of the week, friends, and we have a slew of posts to roll out throughout the day. So, this is your heads up to check back, if you dare. (OK, what is this – Halloween? Please come back!). Ten Feet Tall will be rappin’ and rollin’ all over Bushwaller’s tomorrow night (that’s Friday, for those keeping score), so we thought it might be a good idea to get you acquainted with the band here. Thus, the above video of the band performing one of their own: “Let Me Be Your Fire.” There’s still time to rearrange your Friday night properly, remember. Don’t miss out!
