It’s the season of giving, you know. Last week, we gave you the opportunity to check out “The Last Waltz” and at least six of you seemed interested (thanks so much!). This week, we have a pair of tickets to see the Blind Boys Of Alabama on Friday at the Weinberg. Better yet? It’s their Christmas show. Let’s get ready for some news release action:

This holiday season, the Blind Boys are touring in support of their new album, “Talkin’ Christmas!” (Sony Masterworks), their second-ever Christmas album which features blues legend Taj Mahal and includes several brand-new songs as well as older classics. This special concert will feature songs from the new album, as well as the band’s previous GRAMMY®-winning Christmas recording, “Go Tell It on the Mountain.” 

Please let the record show that if Frederick Playlist heretofore ever has a “®” attached to it, we will buy beer for everyone at every bar in town for the rest of forever. All right. So, check this out, friends, because this might be the neatest giveaway we’ve ever orchestrated: On Sunday, a group of amazing area musicians are coming to the Weinberg to perform “The Last Waltz.” According to the Weinberg’s website, among those musicians will be Bob Margolin, Big Joe Maher, Julia Nixon, Tom Principato, Ruthie Logsdon, Pete Ragusa and Mike Clem. Better yet? The show begins at 4 p.m., which means you’ll have plenty of time to get home and get ready to take on Monday.

So. Now that the Weinberg Center has fully launched itself into season, we thought it might be a good idea to turn your attention to some of the amazing acts it is bringing to town. One of those amazing acts? The world’s most accomplished banjo player, Bela Fleck, and his wife, Abigail Washburn. They’ll be taking the Weinberg stage Saturday night and we’ll have a Q&A with Mr. Fleck himself that we’ll be publishing later this week.

For now, though, we wanted share the wealth by offering up two free tickets to his show at the Weinberg.
