For the first episode of the For The Record Podcast, I sat down with Cassandra Mullinix, the mind behind fredericknewspost.com’s Bucket of Rock blog, which has appeared on the FNP’s website since August 2009.
For the first episode of the For The Record Podcast, I sat down with Cassandra Mullinix, the mind behind fredericknewspost.com’s Bucket of Rock blog, which has appeared on the FNP’s website since August 2009. Because I only recently moved to Maryland (January, 2011), I thought it would be best to pick the mind of someone who has been ingrained in the local music scene for as long as she could remember (or, well, at least the last five to 10 years).
We touched on many topics, including the discrepancy between original acts and cover bands throughout the greater Frederick area, some of her favorite local artists (Old Indian and Demon Beat, among many others) and her strikingly large collection of concert videos you can find on her YouTube channel. In addition to the slate of shows she helps promote through her Bucket of Rock imprint, she also talked about what she has in store for one of the “Local, Live” nights at Bushwaller’s pub in downtown Frederick, coming up in April. To wrap it up, we have a song, “That Telescope Find,” that Mullinix chose to share from one of her favorite area acts, Silent Old Mts.
You can check out her YouTube channel, her Facebook page and her Yahoo events calendar. I’d like to thank Cassandra for stopping by the FNP offices and taking the time to speak with silly, old me. Without her, of course, this whole thing may have never left the ground.
