For the second episode of the For The Record Podcast, I sat down with Doug Alan Wilcox, a singer-songwriter who also is the man behind the local Wednesday Morning Records imprint. Maybe the single nicest musician I’ve met since moving to Maryland, two of his CDs have been reviewed in 72 Hours, The Frederick News-Post’s weekly entertainment guide, and in the spirit of full disclosure, both reviews were maybe a bit too harsh.
Yet despite those lukewarm reactions I wrote about his last couple records, he still took the time to sit down with me in his Hagerstown home to talk about his long career as an original artist, what some of his favorite places to play in Frederick are, and how in the name of James Taylor he has been able to keep such a positive attitude through it all. Honestly — this guy is like a robot with his friendliness.
